About Us

Healing animals and humans through conservation

At the Judith A Bassett Canid Education and Conservation Center (“JABCECC”), our passion for canids drives us to educate, inspire, and conserve. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, we have embarked on a mission to not only spread knowledge about canids, but also to play an integral role in their preservation.

Canids, a diverse family of carnivorous mammals, encompass species ranging from majestic wolves and elusive foxes to our beloved domesticated dogs. These creatures have captivated human imagination for centuries, embodying traits of intelligence, loyalty, and adaptability. However, as human activities continue to encroach upon their habitats and ecosystems, the survival of many canid species has become increasingly threatened.

At JABCECC, we firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of effective conservation. Our programs are meticulously designed to offer comprehensive insights into the biology, behavior, and ecological importance of canids. Through interactive workshops, informative seminars, and engaging exhibitions, we aim to foster a deeper connection between people and these remarkable animals. By igniting curiosity and appreciation, we hope to build a community that values and advocates for their protection.

Our commitment extends beyond education. We also rescue canids from dire situations and provide them a safe haven at the center.  We actively collaborate with conservationists, researchers, and local communities, and anyone else that shares our vision to implement practical strategies for safeguarding canids and their habitats. From habitat restoration projects to advocating for responsible coexistence between humans and canids, our initiatives are grounded in the belief that collective action is essential for lasting change.

Join us on this incredible journey of discovery and conservation. Together, we can ensure that the haunting howl of a wolf, the sly antics of a fox, and the boundless love of a dog continue to grace our planet for generations to come. At the JABCECC, it's not just about canids; it's about preserving the delicate tapestry of life that they are an integral part of.
